Look in areas where there’s a source of water. This means your faucets and pipes. Don’t forget the often overlooked laundry room. Your washer and dryer create the perfect combination of moisture and humidity which mold loves. Pull your washer and dryer away from the wall and look behind them to see any signs of mold.
Foggy Windows
Have you noticed if the windows in your home become fogged up regularly?
This is a sign the ventilation in your home isn’t up to par. A good ventilation system circulates the air throughout your home. It transports stale air to the outdoors while bringing fresh air inside. This constant movement helps keep mold at bay. If you’ve noticed your windows fog up or if the mirrors in your bathroom fog up even with a fan running, your ventilation needs some help.
Poor ventilation is a huge contributor to mold growth and you will need to get this fixed. Otherwise, you’ll be fighting an ongoing battle with moisture which will only perpetuate the mold growth.
Health Issues
If you’re allergic to mold, it can wreak havoc on your health. The symptoms of mold sickness can vary from mild to very severe. If you or your family have experienced relentless runny noses, scratchy throats and itchy eyes with no relief from allergy medicine, you might be allergic to mold.
Because many of the symptoms of mold sickness are so similar to that of hay fever or the common cold, it’s harder to diagnose. If you experience this and also notice some of the other signs of mold growth that we’ve mentioned here, it’s a good idea to have your house inspected for mold.
